One day I walked out my doorstep to head to work (Yes I actually did have a job once) and I discovered my roses had been hacked back to stumps! I ran inside and told my wife our garden had been vandalized. When we stood out the front and looked over what once used to be a beautiful rose garden our next door neighbor stuck his head over our fence and told us he had trimmed our garden for us.

Trimmed? Are you really serious, there is nothing left…

It turned out our Italian next door neighbor was an experienced landscape gardener and he said to us that the most effective way to grow wonderful roses would be to cut them right back to the stump so that all the energy and vitality of the rose could be committed to growing gorgeous new roses rather than being wasted on the lifeless branches and aged buds.

The following season our roses were unbelievable!

Ever since learning this wisdom I have realized you can implement the same to business, friendships and how you organize your time. Whenever you trim dead wood and reduce expired resources you provide more attention and power to the building assets.

Less is more.

I don’t wait until January to trim back and de-clutter. I do it all the time. I carry out what I call a ‘Powercut’ and begin eliminating everything I don’t need.

Empty your mind into a ‘later’ file

When I have ideas, appointments, discussions, notes etc.. I clear my thoughts into a software called Evernote using the ‘fastever’ app and Siri after which I can let go of the information for the time being. I can recover it when I need it utilizing the handy search feature. A clear mind is extremely powerful.

NO will be your friend

Saying NO to prospects by filtering them against your overall strategy is the key to stopping excess creeping back in. Ensure that it stays lean, run things like you mean it and enjoy the productivity boost for the items you say YES to!

There are occasions when we have a lot of things we need to do and we must increase our productiveness to complete our to’-do’s in a set amount of time. However, we often find ourselves wasting the free time that we have by procrastinating. If you would like to raise your productivity and eventually avoid procrastinating, below are some tips on how to focus on the task at hand.

Stay 100% focused

Productive folks stay 100 % focused on whatever task they are wanting to get finished. When trying to complete a task, try putting away your cell-phone, disconnect from the Internet, avoid checking your email or Facebook account, and isolate yourself absolutely from others till you complete what you have to do.

Be courageous

It may sound strange since courage is something that you do not really need in completing tasks even so, current research has demonstrated that procrastination is commonly the brain’s strategy of escaping from all the jobs that you do not like or are afraid to do out of the fear of failure.

Make the right mood, do not wait for it

Everybody wants to be happy, but sometimes, we aren’t able to control our moods and emotions. One day you will feel happy, the following you find yourself sad and blue. There could even be times when you’re feeling like everything is irritating and you aren’t in the right mood to do anything. When this happens, know that waiting for the right mood to come will kill your effectiveness. More on this.

Make every time the best time

There might be instances when we wait for the right time to come but doing this can occasionally be an excuse to escape from all of the tasks and responsibilities that we don’t like doing. This is equivalent to waiting for the right mood. It’ll slowly kill your output and will never get you to do anything. So why waste time if you can begin doing things now?

List down your to-do’s

Becoming productive also means being organized and knowing which tasks take priority. You may be more effective if you write down your to-do’s so you won’t be wasting any of your time. In fact a large amount of folk procrastinate because they have no notion of which task should come first.

Inspire yourself

Motivation and productivity come side by side. If you do not feel the motivation, then chances are you will be deterred from work and your effectiveness will downslide. To prevent this from happening, know the reasons why you lack motivation and treat them so you will be really productive and finish all jobs at hand.

Promise yourself that you are going to be rewarded

Folks who fail to be highly productive don’t enjoy the time that they have on their hands out of guilt. After you guarantee to treat yourself after completing all of your to-do’s, then you will be motivated to finish all of your jobs to enjoy your free time.

This is usually a condition almost every house in America has, and the answer is fairly simple. You may be selling your home, you might be moving into a smaller place, or you could just be fed up with all the stuff. What folks need to do is simply de-clutter their life. It really is quite typical for many people to move stuff we don’t really have to have to a new place.

Don’t you think that it is time to take all of the things that simply get hauled from one location to another, and get rid of them. Have you been puzzled as to why you get rid of stuff and stay organized for very long? Is the disorder making you feel depressed and tired? Decide to adopt a day, and de-clutter your lifestyle, and see whether it won’t make you feel like a big burden has been removed from your life. You can start by having boxes and labeling them garbage, storage, donations and recycle.

Anything that you may not use regularly, things you haven’t touched for years, anything that you have been planning on fixing for longer than you can remember, put in one of the boxes. When there are items that you don’t use but have special importance, label one of your boxes “memories” and place it in there. Put the box in the garage, and take a look at it from time to time, until you decide that some things aren’t that important. You have the option of taking photos of the stuff you may want to keep and then dumping the stuff.

When you eliminate the clutter, and get it out-of-the-way, clean up all around you as you go. Carry out as much as you possibly can to keep the area clutter-free or else things will start to pile up again. When you finish using whatever, make it a routine to put it away right away. Cleaning up a little bit at a time will keep things from piling up and building a new mess. Through de-cluttering a little bit each day, the disorder will not have a chance to start.

Make a short while every day to arrange things, and to clean up as you put things away. The sole reason clutter gets so unmanageable is because it is permitted to pile up. It may take an effort to force yourself to be disciplined, but as soon as you get organized, you will realize how nice it is to work in a clean, organized space. With no clutter, your thinking will move without restraint and your spirit will be happy. Working on one room at a time will make a big job feel simple.

If you happen to like fixing and repairing broken stuff, a nice workbench is a huge benefit. To get instant access to a paintbrush, an artist needs efficiency, and a builder is the same way in needing a workbench for easy location of his or her tools. According to what you’re really looking for, you may want to get a kit for a workbench or make it on your own.

Given that many previously assembled benches are quite costly, many builders just use scrap materials, and build their own. Once you are done building, it is a great compliment for your personal workshop. When you get started with the actual construction, you ought to take a moment to decide exactly what you want from your workbench. Do you want a very simple layout, or do you want some drawers and other amenities? Deciding upon the specialized level of the bench and what wood you should use is a key step. A substantial but light in weight wood is birch, and in contrast is beech which is a very common wood for benches.

A thing to consider is knowing whether the workbench will fit in the room you want. Workbenches frequently stay in one place over time so choose with care where it could go. Unless you have constructed things before, and understand how to make your own plan, you can get plans at home improvement stores or online. Carrying it out in this way, you will have many pages, showing you step-by-step how to build the bench you have always wanted. It is still important to be aware that a pre-assembled kit might be the easiest way to approach the workbench. The tools and elements needed to build this bench also are specified within a parts list.

Utilizing the wood you have, or buying wood and creating a completely new bench from scratch isn’t recommended to the faint of heart. Not everybody is great at home improvement and it is a completely viable option to buy an already made workbench. If you don’t really know what you are doing when building, not only will it cost you priceless time, but money as well. In the event the materials are already available, getting somebody else to do the job is another choice.

If you have made a decision to do this task alone, then taking safety measures like wearing safety goggles and industrial gloves is important. Machinery, tools, and other items will now have a home and you can feel at ease by knowing where to find things at will. Doing anything that requires work whether it is a big or small project will result in immense satisfaction and pride for what you have done.

Plants for offices serve many beneficial functions. Choosing the add a live plant to an office will immediately add color to the usually dull office space. One should make sure to take time to keep in mind key factors that will ensure that the plant not only survives but thrives in its new office home.

Adding a beautiful plant to an office can add many benefits, one immediate benefit is the addition of color. Offices are rarely places people like to spend large amounts of time in but have to. So when a colorful flower is added it makes an immediate impact on the overall look of the office.

Plants also help employees to destress simply by looking at them. Seeing a living green plant on the file cabinet or by the window on your way to the elevator can easily brighten up your day. Of course flowers and trees also remove some toxins from the air that are harmful to us but beneficial to them.

When choosing the right flower or plant there are some important factors that should not be overlooked. The lighting in the office is a critical part of the success of the plant. If the space for the plant happens to be a room with no window and that is occasionally lit, this will not work well for even the most hearty plants.

Usually offices will have florescent lights attached to the ceiling. This light can be perfect for many flowers and trees. Some may even thrive on the constant lighting and seem to prefer it. On the other hand a window is also a great spot for a plant. This natural light followed by a period of dark is an ideal situation for many trees and flowering plants.

You have to take time to consider the space the flower or tree will be placed in. Space is usually at a premium in offices so choose wisely. The space available will dictate the size of the plant you are able to get. A bigger tree for example may make it difficult for co-workers to walk by it. Offices hire cleaning crews that may need to move it on occasion in order to properly do their job. Do not overlook the size of the pot either. A bigger pot will take up more space and can easily be an impediment as well.

The best way to meet all the plants requirements as well as the office space issue is by doing research. Take some time to not only read books but do internet searches to find plants that will work in your office. Do not assume for example that a plant that likes a lot of sunlight will automatically work just as well when flooded by florescent lights.

Plants for offices are a great way to liven up any dull office space. When choosing a living plant consider all the factors in the office and pick a plant that will work best in that environment. So space will be a major factor as well as the lighting available. Doing research will make the choice that much easier.

Find out several things you should understand concerning plants for offices . Make sure you conduct some research before you get plantscaping to decorate your office.

Imagine this: you arrive at your office and there is a sparkling clean desk with your favorite Aurora Diamante fountain pen right next to a brand new legal pad, an empty trash can, and a comfy leather swivel chair fully equipped with a pre-programmed custom massage component. All this and a steaming cup of Joe right next to your computer. But wait, it gets better: on your computer screen you find a rectangular little time tracking box that has your daily tasks outlined in order of priority. Sounds good, right?

Yes, you may be one of the few who feels the $1.47M dollar pen is the most attractive thing in the ideal workplace above (although I hear the resale on those things are ghastly!) but I’ll be honest, I would replace everything above, down to the million dollar pen for the simple, yet valuable, benefit of an online time tracking tool. As soon as that appears on my screen I know that this Monday (or any other day that ends in “day”) is going to be a productive one. But how does a time tracker really help me achieve turning a Monday into something positive? I’m so glad you asked! I have found that I function at my very best when I clear out all the brain clutter that’s created by disorganization and it makes room for dynamic, creative, focused, and quality work. It’s as simple as this: clutter out and hello innovation.

I know you’re still hung up on the fact that I chose time tracking software over the ballpoint treasure, and you’re probably questioning my sanity, but stay with me here. It was because of just that – my sanity – that I chose the time tracker! It was a daily juggling act to manage my massive workload and if I had the time each day to sit down and make a prioritized to-do list, I would start with number one: do not go insane. But after I implemented my time tracker I was shocked to see how my brainpower wasn’t wasted on organizing my workload and instead I focused on more important things.

All of a sudden I found these benefits from implementing a time tracking tool:

- Plummeting stress level – even the best Swedish massage could not better alleviate the tension in my shoulders than when my workload was organized and I spent less time organizing what needed to be done and all my time completing it!

- Newfound focus and commitment – a simple click to “Clock In” on a job code specific to one client causes my brain to focus solely on that task. It creates an unspoken sense of commitment to tackle the project for that client

- Effective communication – manually generated reports are a thing of the past. My time tracker not only compiles the information but is accessible to everyone on the team reducing the amount of time and effort it takes to be on the same page.

- Eliminate clutter – well, my desk doesn’t look exactly like the one described above but the amount of unnecessary paper is reduced and there is a degree of organization that never saw the light of day before. And I didn’t hunch over it for hours.

I still use your basic Pentel fine print pen (you know the one with the comfy gripper at the end?) and I truly enjoy going to work on a daily basis because I feel an element of control and efficiency. Let’s be honest, we all like doing what we are good at and my time tracking tool has made me feel like a rock star in my workplace!

From its inception, the iPad has long been touted as a social media consumer’s tool. It has become basically noted for its excellent image rendering, video playback and immense hard drive storage. In any case, the iPad’s purpose does not start and end on fun and recreation alone. It can also be useful for business-savvy owners who would want to explore Apple’s brand new addition to its roster of technologically complex products.

Apple isn’t yet totally detached from Microsoft-based productivity products; the truth is, the iPad carries built-in assistance for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and 2007. The manufacturer understands the proliferation of Microsoft’s Business Email service and would not let their users be left behind in business if they choose to go with an iPad.

The Microsoft Exchange assistance will allow push email service and can be offered to the user’s calendar events and contacts’ information saved on their Microsoft profile. Furthermore it is plausible to supervise targeted schedule information, search global address lists in addition to inbox messages by way of this enhanced software feature.

Security is very important on the iPad; at the owner’s desire, a number of complex passwords can be assigned to make certain that secret information remain hard to get at to unauthorized persons. Data exchanged over-the-air or through the Internet can be encoded to ensure security. Plus, corporate communication over-the-air is truly protected by a certificate-based authentication system via Exchange and VPN. Even an unlucky experience such as loss or theft of the iPad would not leave vital computer files vulnerable because information on it can be securely obliterated through a remote command.

Specialized apps such as commerce metrics tracker, proposal evaluator, travel organizer, and flight tracker have been formed with the iPad’s business users under consideration. Similar to the enterprise edition of the BlackBerry RIM, Apple also promotes the iPhone Developer Enterprise Program. The significant difference of the iPhone Developer Enterprise from the Blackberry RIM is that the Apple-supported initiative will permit businesses to create their own specialized apps. Their particular apps will be shared among their people and will be deemed proprietary by the client company.

Similarly, iPad profiles can be simply produced for businesses. Companies can set up their own profiles, along with particulars such as VPN, e-mail, wireless network, and password and share it with connections on the iPad through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or the Internet.

Most importantly, iPad services iWork, Apple’s office productivity suite of apps that enables the user to create and browse documents, spreadsheets and presentations. These apps have been enhanced to complement the iPad’s multi-touch system.

Keynote slides can be introduced, produced, and enhanced by means of the touchscreen method. iWork’s mobile versions of Numbers and Pages can easily be managed by tapping features on the multi-touch display screen. These documents can be featured in separate ways; for instance, a VGA adapter may be used to interface the iPad to a projector to permit wider displays for a roomful of spectators. Microsoft files can also be imported into the iPad. Slides, spreadsheets and text documents can be shared on a wider scale by uploading to iWork.com where the public can browse these files.

Although Apple products are useful for business, you can also earn a lot of money as a MCITP. If you’re also interested in saving money on gas, check out the most fuel efficient cars.

Currently its incredibly beneficial to split your projections into month-to-month, 3 monthly & yearly projections. So when you sell something, note down the date the money is due in.
If you want to write your cash flow balance as accurate as you can you must make certain your buyers are fully aware of the bill stipulations, keep track and be fast to send out a polite request for prompt settlement & perhaps charge interest on delayed payments provided this is incorporated in your key stipulations and conditions. When a further customer approaches it is a healthy expense to do a credit check.

If you happen to run into cash flow problems you’ve got 2 approaches. The first is to call your creditors, make clear the circumstances & discuss either staged repayments or a further 30-day credit line. As well, work your debtors hard & do all possible to get them pay you in full.

A satisfied business has invoices cleared right away & pays the money it owes after 4 to 8 weeks. This creates calmness so be ruthless and celebrate your firm.

Written by Jimmie Burroughs

The objective of time allocation is productivity and efficiency, realizing more, better, simpler and in less time. The benefit is more time to do those things which bring the most pleasure. “Nobody really wants to work any harder than necessary to get the results they want.” (Sir William Osler). Work less and accomplish more; that is a good reason to learn time allocation.

When you remember that time is the most valuable asset that we have got and once gone cannot be renewed, it makes sense to want to use it intelligently.

Taking time to improve your time management talents can be significantly rewarding . It’s a talent that’s developed and perfected in time and is also one that needs to be customized to best fit your personal needs. As you go along, you might continue to discover you need to make modifications to your time allocation program from time to time to better meet your needs and produce the end results that you need.

There are 3 ways to focus on time allocation : short term (daily time resource allocation); medium term (Over a week or month); and then long term time allocation (Planning a year or more).

Here’s what I consider to be 7 top time handling tips:

       Have a plan

       Avoid procrastination

Set priorities and focus on them

Focus on one task at a time

       Set deadlines

       Take required breaks

Set up a routine and avoid distractions

  Have a plan:

One method of time management that I picked up from my better half years back is making a job list. It is way easier than relying troubling you, which is stuffed with all kinds of other stuff. Each task I complete I mark it off the list. I remember one super list I made that took about a year to finish all the tasks. That’s an example of long-term time allocation. It became so rewarding at the end of that year as I looked back at all I had accomplished.

The same works for planning your day. For me, I’ve got a selection of things that I plan to do every day so there are some reoccurring jobs. For example, I plan to write at least one article per day. I haven’t got to fool around on trying to figure out what I’m going to write on because there’s a premade list of subjects that are waiting, and from time to time I add new topics as they spring to mind. Planning for time allocation is crucial because without it you or ordained to lose time just hunting for the next task and thinking about it or perhaps getting sidetracked into something that isn’t a priority.

  Avoid procrastination:

One of the most important time wasters in the world is procrastination and one of the best things to do. I must confess that at times it still is challenging for me to avoid it. It’s so easy to think, oh well it does not need to be done now so it can wait. It is mostly those things that we fear the most that we would like to put off, but in doing so we have that whinging feeling that it’s hanging over our head. Whereas the discomfort of procrastination is worse than the pain of just doing it in the 1st place and getting it over and done.

Set priorities and focus on them:

Naturally some things are much more vital than others and to focus plenty of time and attention on those of smaller importance can upset your schedule and lead you to miss some very important cut offs . Sort thru your work list and allot the right priority to each task and a deadline for when it is to be completed. If you happen to feel something is very important, perhaps first thing in the morning when you are fresh is the ideal time to complete it.

Focus on one task at a time:

Multitasking could have some advantages, but it isn’t the best way to manage time. Concentrating on one task and working at it relentlessly till it is finished is the way to best manage your time. Switching backwards and forwards from one thing to the other uses up a fair deal of time and also causes you to lose your point of consecration.

  Set deadlines:

Things without clear deadlines have the tendency to get pushed back into the background and often forgotten . It is for sure that cut offs aren’t our most favorite thing, but they’re critical.

If you are careless, cut off dates can in reality cause a obstruction to time. Management and that is due to the strain that they bring with them. Avoid stress by setting your own cut off point even earlier than needed and then challenge yourself to completing it punctually. Reward yourself with a treat when you meet a cut off point. This works really well for animals and it also works for humans.

Occasionally missing deadlines can cost a giant sum of cash in penalties, fines, and extra costs. Therefore missing deadlines, when there’s no real excuse, makes no sense at all.

  Take needed breaks:

I write articles every day and I’ve discovered that it is best to scribe the article today that I intend to post tomorrow, instead of writing and article and then posting it. If I take five from the text and chill out and have a break or walk outside in the sun for some time and then come back, I’m able to edit much more successfully and when I suspect the article is all edited and complete, I then lay it apart until the next day. When I’m going to check the document again, I find there are sometimes many things I want to change and improve before I post it.

Sometime I may take a nap at 12 noon which always reinforces the quality of work. Simply a 30 minute snooze can rest your mind and enable you to start again afresh.

Set up a routine and avoid distractions:

Setting up a routine is just planning your day’s work and customarily going from one task to the other until finished; this helps avoid distractions. For example, e-mail can become a giant distraction, especially when you get into the habit of checking it every tiny while. So the way In which I fit it into my routine is by going there once a day and deleting those that I do not really wish to spend time with, and reading and taking steps on the ones that are important. Sometimes I’ll have to go back latter and address one that needs more time than I want to give at the moment. But for the most part, one time is usually enough to deal with any actual email.

Plan a task to start your day with and then follow it with all the things you typically have to end throughout the day, right down the road like 1, 2, and 3. On occasion you may have to change your routine to complete a higher concern but sometimes you can keep a regular routine, and over time it becomes a habit which makes it even better to stay on task.

  Conclusion:

Do not give up on time allocation even if you have tried before and failed . Good time allocation skills are too valuable in giving you back the control over your life. Having a handful of loose ends and not being able to get things done routinely can create lots of un-needed stress and waste a lot of valuable time. Time allocation teaches you about having good balance in your life, not wasting your time but using it to aptly fulfill your needs, and releasing ample time to enjoy other items that you want to do that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
